Ex Libris, Andrew Reed, whom I quote: ‘They (Pemba and Attwell) were friends over a long period in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha). Eric had a strong interest in the arts and had been a long-time supporter of George. On one of my visits to George, he happened to mention this, and I expressed interest in meeting Eric. I had read his book "The Road to London". Next thing, George contacted Eric to set up a meeting and Eric presented him with a signed copy of his book. I visited George a few days later. We couldn't visit Eric on that occasion as he wasn't available that day, but George gifted me the signed copy of Eric's book by way of compensation. I didn't expect it but accepted his gift with gratitude. George indicated that he knew the book and didn't need another copy of it’.

Andrew Reed is a Classic car and motor racing journalist.

By Henry Lichtenstein (10 January 1780 – 2 September 1857) a German physician, explorer, botanist and zoologist. He explored parts of southern Africa and collected natural history specimens extensively and many new species were described from his collections by European scientists.

This is the first of two volumes. However this is complete in its own right.
The second volume was published in 1815 and sold separately.

Dylan Marlais Thomas (27 October 1914 – 9 November 1953) was a Welsh poet and writer, whose works include the poems "Do not go gentle into that good night" and "And death shall have no dominion."

Appraisals of Thomas’s work have noted his original, rhythmic, and ingenious use of words and imagery. Further appraisals following on from new critical editions of his poems, have sought to explore in more depth his unique modernist poetic, setting aside the distracting legend of the "doomed poet", and seeking thereby to secure his status as a major poet of the 20th century.

Mickey Spillane Letter

Frank Morrison Spillane (1918 – 2006), better known as Mickey Spillane, was an American crime novelist, called the "King of pulp fiction". His stories often feature his signature detective character, Mike Hammer. More than 225 million copies of his books have sold internationally. Spillane was also an occasional actor, once even playing Hammer himself in the 1965 film The Girl Hunters.

This signed manuscript letter is addressed to the South African crime fiction author, John ‘Wade’ Wright.

Spillane mentions the movie, ‘One Lonely Night’ and his latest Mike Hammer novel. Talking about Hollywood, Spillane says ‘most of the slobs in the elite section of the business give me the nose..’ (Sadly, the picture he mentioned is lost). Sold together with envelope.
