Edo no Hana Meisho basically translates to 'Flowers of Edo' or a euphemism for non-Japanese people. This graphic depicts the actor Onoe Kikujiro II as the Poor Girl of the lonely house. Woodblock printing in Japan was a technique best known for its use in the ukiyo-e. Widely adopted in Japan during the Edo period (1603–1868).
