One of the most famous literary hoaxes of the 19th century. Although it claimed to be a factual account of a 16-year journey on foot from the Cape of Good Hope to Morocco, it was actually a fabrication written by a German cabinet-maker or a pseudonymous author possibly linked to a Wittenberg magistrate named Junge.
