Occupation of Mashonaland by W. Ellerton Fry

This is a limited edition copy, with views by W. Ellerton Fry. The album contains 154 carbon prints by W. Ellerton Fry documenting the 1890 march of the Mashonaland Pioneer Column, a force raised by the British diamond magnate and politician, Cecil Rhodes, and his British South Africa Company, to annex the territories of Mashonaland and Matabeleland. Most photographs are mounted two to a page, recto, and verso. Six two-plate panoramas capture encampments and sites along the route.
