Fine-art photobook, On Africa Time by Pierre Crocquet, Signed (2003).

Crocquet worked as a chartered accountant in Johannesburg and London for seven years before abandoning finance to study photography at the London College of Printing, going on to win the Mondi Photographer of the Year award in 2003.

Published by Bell-Roberts, the project sought to challenge Western visual tropes of war and famine across South Africa, Malawi, Namibia, Mozambique, and Tanzania. Rather than treating the phrase "Africa Time" as a term for inefficiency, Crocquet reframed it to celebrate a continent where life is savoured rather than consumed.

Signed presentation copy. Sponsored by Diners Club International, highlighting how major South African corporate sponsors underwrote high-end art and photography monographs during the post-apartheid publishing boom of the early 2000s.
