Living Arts Biennale 1978 Exhibition Poster
Apartheid related.
11 Nov 1978.
This poster is from the fourth Living Arts Biennale Exhibition in Johannesburg. The exhibition was organized to raise funds for the Waldorf School in Bryanston and aimed to represent and show works from international and local artists. This particular exhibition was exceptional in the number of black artists included. This opportunity was afforded when many white artists declined to participate on the grounds that they would not make enough money! At the height of apartheid repression and censorship of expression and creativity, the mixing of black and white art was exceptionally rare.
The poster needs a clean, and is creased and marked.
