Salt Water Angling in South Africa (1923)
A First Edition of the pioneering guide to recreational sea fishing published by Romer Robinson and J.S. Dunn.
One of the earliest comprehensive guides to the sport in South Africa, documenting the rise of coastal resorts and recreational fishing in the early 20th century.
It was initially planned as a tourist guide for the South African Railways, but after the 1921 depression stalled publication, Romer Robinson (a Durban newspaper proprietor) published it himself.
It primarily covers the Natal and Cape coastlines, with specific details on catches in areas like Durban, East London, and Port Elizabeth. The volume includes lists of fish types, black-and-white photographs, and maps.
