Blue Book – Railway from Wellington to Worcester 1873

Published April 1873.

The railway line between Wellington and Worcester, part of the Cape Main Line, opened on June 16, 1876. The line was opened to great fanfare in 1876 as a crucial step in the railway's expansion to Kimberley and beyond into the Karoo. 

The route is notable for its engineering, with William George Brounger overcoming difficult terrain to build the line with a maximum gradient of 1 in 40.
