“Levinson published five books of poetry, including, in 2020, a volume of his collected poems, which are taught at South African schools and universities.
He donated the earnings from his first book, From Breakfast to Madness, published in 1974, to a fund started by anti-apartheid icon Beyers Naudé, whom he greatly admired. This prompted a visit from the security police who took him in for questioning.”

Printed by Raven Press, established in 1972 by Peter Ralph Randall, Danie van Zyl, and Beyers Naudé, was a South African anti-apartheid publishing house.[1]
Ravan Press was initially established to print the reports of the South African Study Project of Christianity in Apartheid Society (Spro-Cas). In 1974 it became a donor-funded oppositional publishing house, specializing in anti-apartheid literature.
