This 1669 edition of De Puntige Poëet in de Wapenen ("The Pointed Poet in Arms") by Adriaan van Steyn offers a captivating glimpse into 17th-century Dutch literary history and book collecting traditions.

Adriaan van Steyn was an obscure Rotterdam poet whose work went largely unnoticed by major bibliographers of his era. As noted in the accompanying catalog slip snippet, standard 19th-century biographical authorities like van der Aa, Kalff, and Frederiks omitted him, though literary critic Witsen Geysbeek considered his epigrams passable ("dragelijk").

The work consists of sharp epigrams (puntdichten) aimed at various contemporary subjects, including poems directed at the statue of Erasmus in Rotterdam, poet Jacob Westerbaen, A.M. Schuypman, and the estate Kroos-Wijck.

Published in Rotterdam by Isaac van Lochem in 1669, the imprint lists his shop location as being in the Mole-straet (Molenstraat) at the sign of the Comptoir Inct-vat ("The Writing Desk Inkwell").
