Rhodesian Companies (1899)

By R.R Mabson
Second Edition (1899)

Reprinted from the ‘STATIST’ with additional information to date.

A rare historical financial publication authored by Richard Rouse (R.R.) Mabson. It serves as a detailed record of the corporate and mining entities operating in Rhodesia (modern-day Zimbabwe) during the late 19th-century gold rush.
R.R. Mabson was a prominent financial journalist and editor for The Statist. He was widely known for his expertise in mining stocks and also authored the more expansive Mabson's Mines of the Transvaal (often referred to as M.O.T.).
Published at the height of mining speculation in Southern Africa, the book documented the transition from early prospecting to established corporate ventures under the British South Africa Company (BSAC).
The volume provides information on various Rhodesian mining companies, including their capitalisation, boards of directors, and the status of their claims, such as the Ayrshire Mine and Geelong Mine.
