First Edition
Wilfrid Robertson was the author of about 36 books between the years of 1930 and 1962. While some were nonfiction and a few were set in England, he is best known for his adventure fiction intended for boys especially those set in Africa.
Robertson was born in England in 1892 to Lt. Col. William Robertson, a Brigade Surgeon, and his wife, Georgiana Elizabeth Pearson. He was educated at Felsted School in Essex. He married Muriel Virginia Egerton and they had one son, Richard, in 1919.
During the 1920's Robertson owned a cattle ranch in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) where he also grew tobacco. He recorded his adventures, running the ranch and big game hunting in the bush during the dry season, in his book Rhodesian Rancher.
Returning to England after suffering a serious bout with malaria, Robertson and his wife lived in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, where he kept poultry and continued writing.
Robertson died in 1973 in Oxfordshire.
