This is a 180-page diary of a Victorian traveller to India. This diary is a clerical copy from the letters that James Henry sent to his father. Beginning at Southampton docks and then overland from Calcutta (Kolkata) to New Delhi. There was possibly an additional volume that continued after this one?
Includes a photocopy of a photograph of the Steamship 'Ceylon' in 1858; A starboard view of the passenger cruise ship at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has a short funnel, two yards on her foremast and mainmast and no boats forward of the bridge. Her boats are painted brown. She is flying the Blue Peter and Tilbury Fort is in the background.
